Discriminating calibration frames by GAIN

Hi
Trying to calibrate some LRGB frames and NB frames.
The two trypes are of different gains. I have a "GAIN" keyword.
The two types happen to have the same exposure duration.
When I try WBPP, it recognizes the two dark frames as being the same. That is it lumps all the darks into a single batch even though I added GAIN as a keyword.
Thoughts on how I can set it up properly so that WBPP knows to calibrate the appropriate Darks to the appropriate lights?
Tx

  • Please include the screenshots of the WBPP panels (use the Diagnostics Button to generate them) of your configuration that shows this (all panels).

This is just a configuration issue (that is my thought).

  • Hi Adam,
I don't know what I did, but it's working now....

PS- this is NGC1491 data....i was almost done gathering the data when you released your updated video a month ago or so....we'll see how I fare,

  • Hi Once gain,
Had to take a break for a day on this issue.
    The GAIN problem is fixed.

But I still have some configuration problems:
Here is my diagnostic, and attached are my screenshots:
==== Check for long file path limitation
Warning: Cannot create files with a path longer than 256 characters. This is a limitation imposed by the operating system and can cause the failure of one or more steps.
Ensure that you remove this limitation by properly configuring your operating system settings
    .

    ==== Check reference frame settings
Warning: Master Light frames will be grouped using the keyword DATE and the registration mode is auto: All frames will be aligned on the same reference frame. Consider selecting "auto by" registration mode if you want to register these groups separately by keyword.

    ==== Check disk space availability
    Note: Master bias........... 125.04 MiB.
    Note: Master darks.......... 500.16 MiB.
    Note: Master flats.......... 875.27 MiB.
    Note: Calibrated flats...... 8.55 GiB.
    Note: Calibrated lights..... 21.55 GiB.
    Note: Cosmetic correction... 21.55 GiB.
    Note: Registration.......... 21.55 GiB.
    Note: Local normalization... 750.23 MiB.
    Note: Master lights......... 1.47 GiB.
Note: The required working space is 76.87 GiB (available 816.10 GiB).

  • Brook,

    OK. A couple of things.

    1. I hope you recognize you have a complex request in what you are trying to do. That requires a little bit of logic both in what you expecting..and what WBPP is programmed to do.
    2. This leads to some items that do not make sense to me. First you have turned on BOTH Pre and Post grouping for the keyword DATE. This doesn't make sense to me. DATE will group calibration data  (darks and flats) with Light frames. You do not want to group the post-processed data by date right? Once the data is calibrated, you will want to combine all of your lights together (not group them). This is why there is a warning. If WBPP does what you instruct- it will calibrate by DATE ...*and* it will Group them by DATE as well using only one reference. This situation, that you have programmed, is typical for Mosaics where you do want to group them by a keyword and NOT register them with the same reference frame. IN this case you would tell the registration routine to group by keyword.
    3. Second you are attempting to group by filter. This is a superfluous grouping since WBPP already does this matching. You can run into issues by using this. Unless there is some other logic you are trying to capture...but you have not explained in detail your project.

    Let me know..
