How to delete a history state?

Hi Adam and everyone:

Say I apply a process to an image and it happens to be the final one, but I decide not to use it and undo it. The process that I "undid" is now part of the history state for the image even though it is unused. Sure, the orange arrow points to the last process that was applied and saved, but the unused process after that point is still there, and this may cause me confusion in the future if I return to this image to review how it was processed. I don't see a way to delete the unused process.

Thank you as always for your help.

  • A few minutes more of intense contemplation and I may have a workable answer. If I can't delete the history state, then I can just turn it off leaving the red "X" next to the process. This will be my indication that the process was not applied.

    Insert "duh" emoji here______.

  • Yes. Also, if the state(s) happen to be at the end, you can create a clone of the view. The history states will be contained in the "Intiial State" you can double click on and it will not include the obviated ones.

OR...and this is a weird one. Any time you choose a state in the middle of others..and then do a NEW thing... all of the history states after it are going to go away since this is now a completely new path.

So... if you apply a process that does nothing...this will result in a similar kind of thing. For example, apply HistogramTransformation in its reset (identity) state. It does nothing to the image... but any history state after its position will go away. An advanced method is the NoOperation process.
