What kind of data should I use in following along with Pixinsight Fundamentals

I have data for M3 that was trying to use in the lesson on the Screen Transfer Function and Histograms. What's the best form for the data to use ? Raw data from the camera ? Output from stacking e.g. in Pixinsight ?

    In the case of this question... a linear image would make sense (which can be a subexposure or an integrated result). The integrated result make be more pleasant to look at. :)
    But the reality is that it does not really matter- *any* image will do in this case (even permanently stretched ones).
