More new stuff in WBPP

edited February 2023 in PixInsight
Adam,
I'm sure you are aware of the new things in WBPP 2.5.9.   Please update us on the Autocrop function and the new things going on in the NSG script concerning minimum transmission etc.   Also, WBPP automatically combined two different Lum sets (30 sec and 60sec) into one 60sec Master.  Whats going on there?

Thanks

  • Hi Alan,

Does autocrop really need an update video? (the uncropped version is still available)
It just does to the math to return the image that is the intersection of the others after registration and integration. I was considering this minor and waiting for more major stuff.

Concerning NSG- I John is now producing his own videos on his YouTube channel. He is the best source and explainer for the continuing evolution of NSG. See:

Concerning the combining of different exposure times- the only thing that controls this is the Post-Calibration exposure tolerance (see it in the tab). The default is 2 seconds. Did you change this to a larger number previously?

  • Adam,
To answer your question at the end of the above post, I did not change the exposure tolerance in WBPP but somehow in perhaps one of the latest WBPP updates, the exposure time got changed to 300.  I returned the time to 2 seconds and reran the data, back to normal function, thanks.

Since, I have your attention, there is one other small issue.  In your latest 51 minute video on "Orion Nebula Example What to do with SPCC BXT SXT NXT and HD", I watched it 5 times and still can't figure out if you incorportated the Lum data into the RGB data.  I watched you create a nice Lum image and then move onto RGB, go thru HSI tricks etc but I couldn't find where or how you added that Lum into the final image.

    Thanks again!
  • Yeah..I never did. This was just a video to help a member... so I didn't go through LRGB combination... I guess I should have. That is an extra complication adding more time. Hmmm...
Perhaps I will add an addendum where I blend the LUM and RGB image together.
