zero length "registered" image??

why would star alignment produce a zero length registered image file...

i used the staralignment process, with 45 calibrated, cosmetic corrected, and debayered RGB images.

they all look fine when blinked

registration properly created 44 aligned images (309MB each) but image #26 was zero length...

it took me a few hours and several head bangs to realize what was happening. the zero length image caused image integration to fail.. integration worked fine when i removed image #26 from the input set.

suggestions welcome.

thanks

  • ok... i figured out what is going on... i ran staralignment again (more than once).  the process log showed all 45 images aligned correctly, yet this time 3 (other) files were zero length...errors showed writing the file was a problem...

answer: DON'T USE CLOUD DRIVES FOR IMAGE PROCESSING... the synching process is randomly blocking disk writes.  when i run staralignment directly on the local drive, it all works fine.

hopefully, someone may find this useful.

  • Yes...that sounds about right.
    Thanks for the follow up.
(Don't use cloud drives for any files that are polled either (like cloud sensors)).
