Iconization vs shading images

I notice that you shade your images rather than iconize them.  Is that just a choice for you?  I had always iconized the images.  It creates a smaller footprint and also provides a preview  when hovered over.  Since Pixinsight 1.8.8.10, iconizing images causes exceptions and eventual crash.  I determined that the use of software mouse control is the culprit.  Most mice these days come with extra buttons where a control program allows you to program them.  I use these kinds of mice because I like to play games as well.  What kind of mouse do you use?

    I use a Logitech wireless mouse under WIndows.
    I guess I never gave it much thought concerning the shading versus iconization. Seeing an image preview certainly could be useful. The main thing I try to do is keep the number of active/working images I am messing with small. I try not to make too many intermediate images if possible so that there is a well defined (linear) history of processing steps. If I create an intermediate file- I often copy it as a step onto another to keep that main line alive (and still store/shade the intermediate).

    Of course if you watch my vids... you will see I failed miserably sometimes... but I *try*. :)
