North American Nebula - Different Processing Sessions

I took a OSC set of images using my RedCat 51 and ASI-533 camera.  I also used a ZWO duo band filter (Ha/O3).  I did some imaging several months back before I purchased Russel Crowman's BlurXT, NoiseST and StarXT,  In both cases I used Generalized Hyperbolic Stretch (GHS).  I will call this the "old" image.  The "new" image employed the RCrowman's applications.  I have attached both,  I took a different path for the old image in sense that I stretched the red channel initially thinking it should be red.  The resulting image had a range of reds and similar to what I see on a lot of published images.

For the new image I used GHS and applied the processes recommended in the GHS home page Tutorial No. 2.  In this case I got a much different image with red, blue and brown coming out.  This image is very different but at same time looks very nice IMHO.

Am I doing something wrong to get the new image or is this just a reflection of different pathways for the stretching process?
