Comet sub Registration Failure

Sorry - another comet question!

I am using R,G,B frames and following this process:

WBPP with registration - registration fails

WBPP with just calibration > starx removal > star registration fails.  I think starX (and WBPP) sees the comet as a bright star. I tried to upload a video of the blinked files, but it failed.

single red sub attached.

It did a reasonable job on the blue filter, but red and green the comet was definitely in the star subs.

is the data a write off or is there something else I can try?
