Eta Dacronis weighting comparisons
Hi Adam,
Thank you for making the integrated image visual comparisons using different signal weighting (Part 7).
It showed clearly that for the data set that the choice was better stars vs better noise. Since the desired data is the faint nebula, then contrast enhancing will accentuate the noise. So the less noisy image would be the better choice for post processing.
The noisier integration (PSF Signal Weight) integrated 33 of total 75 images. PSF Scale SNR integrated 60 of 75.
-- Would you expect lowering the minimum weight lower to include closer to 60 images would improve the background noise?
Those additional images would be low weight, so perhaps no visible improvement. I ask this because I am always challenged by noisy subs (my imaging environment) and any little thing I want to take advantage of it. I guess I should run my own integration tests with different minimum weights.
