"Painting" L with RGB

I have heard that one should "paint" L data with RGB, though don't know what that means in practice.

I'm about halfway though Adam's Fundamentals and so far have not seen this addressed. I'm working on the Eskimo Nebula and my L data has much more detail than the RGB. What is the recommended way to add color to the L?

Thanks,
Jack

  • In Fundamentals I explain how make LRGB images. (You blend non-linear versions of the L master with the RGB image using LRGBCombination).

Remember you can search my site for relevant videos. Search for "LRGB" using the magnifying glass at the top right. You will see a number of videos that are related and some that are specifically about the topic.
