Combining L w/ RGB or NB ?

Hey Folks... Hope everybody's new year is off to a great start.  My UofM Wolverines beat Alabama ... BARELY ... so I can't complain!!

I'm wondering about some stuff I've seen in Adam's videos and what the optimal way is over the variety of circumstances for combining a "Luminance" or "Spatial Detail" image (e.g. Ha or a SynLum composed of 2 or more NB images...) w/ a color image (e.g. RGB or SHO)...

I typically use the LRGB Combination process and that works great.  But does it ever make sense to use HSV or HSI color spaces... extract HS and use the spatial detail images as either V or I ??  I think one of those color spaces only really makes sense in a linear mode, and the other may only be for non-linear images.  Then, there's also the Lab and Lch spaces??  I have no clue what the XYZ space is for, but maybe it's a sensible option at some times.

Anyway, if folks have interesting and useful things to say on this that'd be great.

Thanx tons
Jim
