By the way...the writing black to Files/Views was my idea. :)It was designed to be used for Selective Rejection..but you can use it in the way I described.
-the ego-validation-seeking Blockhead
The easiest way to do this is to use the GAME script so that you can draw on the image directly. Just draw the regions you want to be black... and then press the "write to Files/VIews button to select all of the files or views to do this to. That is…
Hi Thomas,
I have a few speaking engagements right now...so I will not be able to look at your data. However, a screenshot of a calibrated image might be helpful. Also, it might be helpful to show your WBPP configuration screens.
Finally, I need to b…

HI Lynn,
Whoah... hang on there partner. Why are you inputting all of those keywords? You do not need to do this! You are also attempting to manually match the files. All of this I am certain is confusing the issue and making a mess.
I think you shou…
Well... you sir are a glutton for punishment! (this is an extreme case I think) The field rotation is really a killer! I am assuming this is an Alt-Az mount? (otherwise the polar alignment needs to be refined...)-the Blockhead
The simple answer to your question is... no. It is rare this is a solution... but, in this case you are running into a combination of software and computer hardware limitations. A better mount at the end of day (or night) could actually be the easie…
You will need to show a screenshot of the control panel with your files loaded. Click on one of the Flats in the control panel before you make the screen capture. This is really the best way to figure (quickly) out these issues. Lots of screenshots.…
Hi John,
I understand. As I mentioned in my e-mail I have another data set in the hopper (NGC 3199) that I think fits the bill. I do know that I have little interest in making green images! So I will probably will not do SHO explicitly as a color ma…
Hmm... the source of the reflection could be in your cylindrical adapter or even something at the edge of the sensor. Light likes to bounce around. I would work on flocking things first...(if you have not done so already).

Please look in the FITs header. Are the files labeled as a type Bias?If not, you can simply load them into WBPP using the Custom button to force the frame type.

Hmm... you can get close with the other substitution method I showed...https://www.adamblockstudios.com/articles/scattered-light
(it is also available for free on YouTube... )
But this isn't perfect for you since there is a little overlap between th…
That is a rough/tough one. When the magnitude/degree of the artifact is similar to the thing you are interested in seeing.. it is always difficult to mitigate without harming the thing you want to keep.
I do not see a really great solution to the mu…
I think you will find it difficult to take "old" data (that is data that is not normalized from 0 to 1) and use it in the way you did by loading it into WBPP. The method that will always work is to recreate the master calibration data from the origi…
Hi David,
The default functionality of WBPP is to assign a file as a master if it is found in the header OR the path name.If one of your folders has the word "master" in it... WBPP will assume all calibration files in the folder are masters. You can…
Hi John,
You will need to make the actual XISF (native PixInsight format) file available to check an example. The answer to your question depends on whether there is junk in the header you need to ignore, or if there is a hole in the catalogue... or …
Yeah.. there is likely a calibration issue. It could be a configuration problem... or it could go all the back to an acquisition issue (like different gain settings for CMOS cameras). Many things to consider.-the Blockhead
Hi Hank,
The first thing to do is take a step back and look carefully at the calibrated data does it make sense what are the values??
In addition and it does take some reading but if you look in the detail log text file you’ll see exactly when th…
Brent,
Whoah..that is a tough one.Yes, I asked Hartmut to put that functionality into the script.
The zeros are really specifically for rejection. This single value is used to signify these pixels need to be rejected.
I think what you want to do is …
Well..that's not fair! That is a different object!
I think you fundamentally need to start with a brighter background. However, you can only get away with this if you have enough data so that even the background is not too noisy. Then you apply the…
