I did not say "cannot" ... I said that I found for some CMOS sensors the pixel-to-pixel pattern (noise?) is correlated and this is not something that MUREDenoise can accommodate. I do not think MUREDenoise is creating the issue- the correlation of p…
And regarding the YouTube- there are two (or three) different kinds of videos I produce there.
1. Some small technique or discovery that is valuable to everyone and might showcase my instructional abilities or influence. This is to encourage people …
I don't think you need to feed it back in. The numbers you are looking for are (basically) SNR and star quality to keep things simple. I actually demonstrate this in my latest upload of the PixInisght Horizons session of the Draco Nebula (Eta Dracon…
Linwood,
You can feather the edge OR use a threshold type mask. That is only apply to pixels above a certain brightness- this will also protect the background- even if there are dark areas inside the object/area of interest.

HI Michael,
Sometime ago I reached the same conclusion you did. When using some CMOS sensor there is a correlation between pixels that MUREDenoise does not accommodate. These days tools such as Russ Croman's NoiseXTerminator are a good alternative. …
Linwood,
Here is my logic for most objects.
1. HDRMT is used to compress the dynamic range of bright features.2. The background is not bright- it is not what HDRMT is working on (usefully)- especially if you are applying to a fraction of an image. O…
Richard,
Please see this video... tell me if this fits your experience?https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wfZv7O7AhITIm453_jKuAb6USHe3GbWL/view?usp=sharing

You should not worry. The algorithm was adjusted and that relaxation parameter was removed as it was not doing what it was supposed to. If you have problems with rejection using ESD for Selective Rejection- you can always resort to WInsorized Sigma C…
Hi Bruno,
I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding here. You do not need any keywords to calibrate your data- and the use of one is causing you issues here.
So let's discuss what you are trying to do with the LEXT keyword? It should not be ap…
What you are describing appears to be that the flats are not being calibrated properly or there is some other calibration issue. You should probably start with showing the WBPP configuration screens. Then, it is probably likely that making the data …
This isn't a case I have come across yet- not a common one I think. However, yes, you are correct if you want to do it all in one go. You could have also run WBPP twice. Once to calibrate the new data. And a second time for all of the prost processi…
Hmm... I not exactly certain. There are different ways to approach the kind of image you are describing.... Can you give me detail on what you want to accomplish?

This is a rather lengthy discussion.I disagree with your assessment concerning stars. It is unreasonable (and unnatural frankly) for star color to be constant in saturation (to the degree that many want). Stars of all colors are naturally desaturate…
The noise value in particular is calculated by PixInsight. In order to have proper weighting in Pixinsight (any method), you need to calibrate the raw data in PI... and go from there. NSG uses some of the calculated values and obviously all of the n…
Hi Helge,
Another member was asking something very similar recently. One thing I want to do is create a document that outlines in one or two sentences what each process does and the common uses of them. I think this will help address some of what yo…
That is correct. Binned data just will not match with other data of a different binning (there is no tolerance setting). The best thing to do, is what I show in FastTrack training. Just use WBPP to get you through the registration step. You will be …
I do not have a good video on fixing elongated stars. (Typically optical aberrations make them change their orientation across the field of view). It is my understanding that deconvolution can somewhat address this..but I have never seen it done wel…
Hi Nihal,
You will need to make the images available.I suggest 5 images of each type. If you do this...remember to make the folder have permissions that "anyone with link can access/view."
