Again, you data quality is fine. What you are seeing with DBE is completely normal. No matter what site you image from, the sky is not dark (airglow). So you will always see this effectof seeing more graininess after DBE.
Funny thing... no one ever…
Hi,
I am afraid I am lost. The image you attach above is a grayscale image that has not been debayered.
Can you make your data (or a fraction of it) available?

Ok...first with respect to Drizzle... this is a WBPP issue that I pushed to finally have an answer to. Did you see Juan answer this finally! (I posted this on the FB forum as well). https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?threads/drizzle-star-core-ar…
Hi Gordon,
The MidTones value is its position BETWEEN the black and white points. When you look at the STF little carats, the left one is the black level (which has a value compared to the original full range) and the same is true for the white poin…
Hi John,
The sky brightness (your gradient) is a real signal. It is unwanted though. But it is relatively bright! So your "smooth" background is due to the unwanted light. When you subtract it using a tool like DBE- you are seeing the TRUE nature of…
Hi Roger,
Indeed I think you are right! This site has been up for three years...no one has pointed this out to me!!(I do wonder if anyone watches my stuff ... lol )
Part of the issue is that I often have more than one take and I often "Frankenstein" …
Yes!I guess I missed the original question when you posted it.I wrote about this on the PI Forum- it happened for me when a reference frame was altered.

Hi Roger,
Most of nebula examples are for Pixinsight are part of the Horizons collection of videos. (https://www.adamblockstudios.com/categories/Pixinsight_Horizons)
If you can wait to complete Fundamentals... those workflows are in Horizons if you …
Hi John,
That might be difficult to make go very well... but it could work, I am not certain!I suspect if you insert a process that requires user input? But I am not certain if the process container will continue from there. You are make a foray int…
Hi Derek,
I have been down this road before. Please follow my trail of crumbs here...then then the linked thread:

Hi Phillip,
With respect to horizontal banding in your image- this isn't a debayering issue. Instead, this deals with the nature of your sensor itself. I am not familiar with the one you are using...but there exist some banding reduction algorithms …
I think you are asking why don't you get a completely smooth result? ATW, MLT, TGVDenoise all work on layer/scale sizes that will always look like this.
In my tutorials, I demonstrate one way to get a different result (and attack things less with t…
Ed,
I think I see the issue. You are using the more "advanced" version that uses MMT to create the substitute pixels. Part of the issue (I see couple) is that you likely need to apply MMT several times to get the rightbackground value. But this is co…
An offset parameter will likely be added in the next update of WBPP.You can of course add any offset you want to your images with Pixel Math and an image container.
I would think to discover the offset value you would take "biases" (short exposure…
Hi Dave.
First I note you are using GAIADR2... but I think DR3 is the latest/greatest.DR2 might have some holes in some parts of the sky.....
This may or may not be it....but just so we can be on the same page...any chance you are up for getting DR3…
Great work Roger!Yes...I tried to indicate this kind of thing in FastTrack by making people pay attention to the folders and file naming conventions.
